Embracing the Colorado Ranch Life: Our Summer Adventure Begins!

After spending many months last summer in the Maritimes, we felt ready to find a place where we could sink our roots a bit deeper for a while. Enter the Colorado Rockies —a majestic land of rugged beauty and untamed wilderness. It is here that we stumbled upon the opportunity of a lifetime: a chance to spend the summer working on a private ranch nestled near Granite, Colorado.

The decision to commit to a single location for an extended period was not one we took lightly. But after a tantalizing glimpse of what life on this ranch could offer during our brief interactions with the manager, we couldn’t resist the allure of Mike returning to his Colorado roots and for an  immersive ranch experience.

Our roles on the ranch are as diverse as the landscape itself. Mike will be rolling up his sleeves to tackle everything from barn chores to landscaping, from irrigation to ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of the ranch’s esteemed guests. Meanwhile, I’ll be lending a hand wherever needed, pitching in during busy guest visits and tending to the noble steeds that grace this picturesque setting.

But it’s not all work and no play. Far from it. The ranch is a veritable playground, offering a plethora of activities to indulge our adventurous spirits. From exploring the myriad trails crisscrossing the rugged terrain to navigating the backcountry on side-by-sides, from casting lines in pristine fishing creeks to honing our marksmanship at the shooting range—every day promises a new adventure, a new discovery.

Yet, even amidst the excitement and novelty of ranch life, there are moments of tranquility and stillness that speak to the soul. Living amidst the Rocky Mountains, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, we find solace in the embrace of nature, in the quiet majesty of towering peaks and whispering pines.

Our journey to the ranch was not without its challenges. Delayed by adverse weather conditions that made traversing the winding roads in our RV a daunting task, we arrived a few days later than planned. But as they say, all good things are worth the wait.

And so, as we embark on this summer ranch life adventure, I invite you to join us on this journey of discovery, of work and play, of laughter and quiet contemplation. Through weekly updates, we’ll share the highs and lows, the triumphs and tribulations of life in the Colorado Rockies. For even in the simplicity of everyday existence, there is magic to be found. So, let the adventure begin!
